Cape Town’s Historic 18-Hole Course Since 1932

Our History

Westlake Golf Club, located in Cape Town’s Southern Suburbs, was established in 1932 on leased land from the Raapkraal farm, with a cottage serving as the first clubhouse. A nine hole course opened to the public that September, followed by an 18-hole layout within four years, designed by Dr. D.C. Murray.

Over the decades, the club has grown in stature and remained active in community focused initiatives, contributing to the broader development of the sport. More recently, Westlake Golf Club has been selected to host national, provincial, and local professional tour events. It has hosted the Ladies S.A. Open four times and the Jabra Ladies Classic in 2025.

The course has proven to be a stern yet rewarding test of golf.

Westlake Golf Club’s commitment to excellence has earned it the title of The Cape’s Most Popular Course. In 2023, it was recognised as South Africa’s busiest golf club, with an impressive 40,710 registered rounds. This achievement highlights not only the course’s quality but also its warm and welcoming atmosphere for members and visitors alike.
